ADMISSION PROCEDURE:

Admission Criteria

Admission is open to both male & female candidates who qualify H.S or Equivalent examination. Admission process begins immediately after the publications of 10+2 results as per the guidelines of North Bengal University in compliance with West Bengal Government Rules.

The total process of admission tothe B.A/ B.Sc. /B.Com. / B.B.A Undergraduate Semester-ISingle Major & Single Minorand Three Discipline Specific (Multidisciplinary) Courses will be strictly executed through online mode. Admission to the 4 Year B.A/ B.Sc. /B.Com. / B.B.A Program OR particular Subject/ Courses are depends on the merit, i.e. preference on the marks or percentage of last qualifying examination (H.S or Equivalent), availability of seats, reservation policy, admission rules of the College etc. Admission form, not properly filled in, shall not be considered. Admission is liable to cancel if false information is furnished.

Online Admission

A candidates seeking admission to Kalimpong College has to visit College website www.kalimpongcollege.ac.in. and then by clicking highlighted ONLINE ADMISSION, one can access to the online admission portal and thereby apply to the desired Program/ Course. The important dates of applications, registration, publications of merit list along with the date of online payment, admission will be uploaded time to time and hence it is advised to check up the College website regularly. Further, the applicants are advised strictly follow the admission guidelines/ regulations, instructions of form fill up and subject selection basket before online application.

After the publication of merit list, different phases of e-counselling of eligible candidates for B.A/ B.Sc. /B.Com. / B.B.A Single Major & Single Minor and Three Discipline Specific (Multidisciplinary) Courses will be announced in due course. Accordingly, the eligible candidates have to submit their Admission fees only through ONLINE PAYMENT using Credit Cards, Debit Cards, Net Banking and UPI.

Documents Verification:The following original documents of the applicants are needed to be verified:

I. Applicant’s Online Registration Form/Application Form.

II. Admit Card of Madhyamik or equivalent examination as proof of age.

III. Mark-sheet of the Higher Secondary (H.S.) or equivalent examination.

IV. School Leaving Certificate.

V. SC. / S.T. / O.B.C. Certificate (for S.C. / S.T. / O.B.C. Candidates) from District Magistrate or Sub-Divisional Officer. No certificate from other authorities will be accepted for this purpose.

VI. Migration Certificates in original for students other than W.B.C.H.S.E. board.

VII. PH certificate (if applicable).

VIII. Payment Receipt of Admission fees.

The following Self-Attested Xerox Copies are to be submitted by the applicants at the college:

I. One Self-attested Copy of Admit Card of Madhyamik or equivalent examination as proof of age.

II. One Self-attested Copy of Mark-sheet of the Higher Secondary (H.S.) or equivalent examination.

III. School Leaving Certificate in Original.

IV. One Self-attested Copy of S.C. / S.T. / O.B.C. Certificate (for S.C. / S.T. / O.B.C. Candidates) from District Magistrate or Sub-Divisional Officer. No certificate from other authorities will be accepted for this purpose.

V. One Self-attested Copy of PH Certificate, wherever required.

VI. Two recent passport size photographs. (Self-attested)

VII. Migration Certificates in original for students other than W.B.C.H.S.E. board

Other Regulations

Reservation of Seats: There will be reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Differently-Abled Candidates as per Government Rules. For differently-abled candidates' minimum disability at least 40% will be considered.

Session Gap: For admission to the Undergraduate Program there should not be a gap of more than 3 years between the year of Higher Secondary Examination and the year of admission to Undergraduate Program of study.

Session Break: Students who exit with Undergraduate Certificate or Undergraduate Diploma, are permitted to re-enter within 3 (three) years and complete the Degree Program Students are also permitted to take a break from the study, during the period of study, but the total duration for completing the program will not exceed seven years.

Admission on Transfer: If a student has been admitted to a College, he/she/transgender will not, except as otherwise provided in the Ordinances, be subsequently admitted to any other College without the production of a Transfer Certificate from the Principal of the College in which he/she/transgender studied last. A student admitted to a College, will not ordinarily be allowed to take transfer to any other College, except at the end of a semester. If an application for transfer is made at any time, other than at the end of a Semester, on the ground of (a) transfer of the parent / guardian of the student from the station at which the College is situated, or (b) reasoned need for a change on the ground of health supported by proper medical evidence, or any other sufficient reason, the Principal may grant the transfer. A student may apply for transfer within one month from the date of publication of semester-end examination and the student should qualify all the previous semester examinations without any back paper(s).

Admission on Transfer should abide by the following stipulations: A candidate taking transfer from one College to another is required to pursue the same set of courses of study in both the colleges;

1. Admission on transfer must not violate the approved intake of the course concerned of the College granting admission. Only in cases of wards of Government employees who have been transferred, a relaxation of intake may be granted with the permission of the Vice-Chancellor;

2. Cases of admission on transfer must be intimated in writing to the University authority by the College admitting such candidates within a fortnight of such admission without which such admission on transfer will not be recognized;

3. All other steps and procedures related to transfer will be in accordance with the provisions of the Ordinances.

Termination

If a student newly admitted to the first semester remains absent from attending classes for more than the first 15 days continuously without any intimation, his/her/transgender admission will stand cancelled.

Other Modalities and inclusions

a. Academic Bank of Credit (ABC): It is the platform developed by National e-Governance Division (NeGD) of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, havingthe facility/functionality of opening Academic Account by students and on boarding of eligible Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), in accordance with “The University Grants Commission (Establishment and Operation of Academic Bank of Credits in Higher Education) Regulations, 2021”. ABC will digitally store the academic credits earned by students from HEIs registered with ABC for awarding degrees/diplomas/certificates taking into account credits earned by students.ABC will ensure the opening, closure and validation of Academic Bank Accounts, credit verification, credit accumulation, and credit transfer, redemption for students.

b. Accumulation of Credits: Every student shall open an account in the Academic Bank of Credits which will provide him/her/transgender with a unique ID and will allow access to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The Credits awarded to a student for the courses pursued in the University shall be accumulated in the Academic Bank Account of the student. The procedure for accumulation of credits earned, shelf life, redemption of credits, would be as per the UGC (Establishment and Operation of Academic Bank of Credits in Higher Education) Regulations, 2021 and their subsequent amendments. The validity of credits earned will be to a maximum period of seven years or as specified by the Academic Bank of Credits.

c. Foreign Nationals: The candidate (Foreign Nationals) will have to show “Original Copy” of Certificate of Madhyamik (or equivalent), Certificate of Higher Secondary (or equivalent) and original Passport (along with Visa) at the time of admission. Foreign Nationals will have to pay the fees equivalent to or higher than the Indian Nationals, as decided by the Colleges. Their papers must be duly endorsed by the local Embassies/Consulates/High Commissions, whichever is applicable and their visa period must cover the period required to complete the course.

Re-Admission

As per NBU directive, all students must finish their courses within 5 years for 3 years Degree Course and 7 years for 4 years Course from the date of registration. Beyond that time-frame, permission has to be sought from NBU authorities for re-admission.

Migration

Any candidate qualifying in Higher Secondary (10+2) course from any recognized Board/Council in India other than WB council of H.S. education and seeking admission to B.A./B.Sc./B.Com., courses in this college must produce a migration certificate at the time of admission. Similarly, a student migrating to NBU for B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. General or Hons course from any other University will be required to produce a migration certificate at the time of admission. A migration fee is payable.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

Single Major and Single Minor course: % of Marks

A student shall be allowed to take admission in the Single Major and Single Minor course of B.A. /B.Sc. /B.Com. if he/ she has passed in at least four (04) subjects with English as compulsory subject in the Higher Secondary [10+2] Examination held by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other Examination which is recognized by the University as equivalent thereto.

Provided that a candidate who has obtained- (a) 55% marks in the aggregate, or (b) 50% in the aggregate with 60% marks in a subject / related subject in the last qualifying Examination shall be eligible to apply for Single Major and Single Minor course in that subject.

Admission shall however be on merit and availability of seats.

Provided that for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PWD candidates- the minimum marks for eligibility shall be as per Rules of the State Government.

Provided further that in matter of eligibility 54.5% marks or above shall be equal to 55%, 49.5% and above shall be equal to 50% and 59.5 marks or above shall be equal to 60%.

Three Discipline Specific Courses (Multidisciplinary):

A student shall be allowed to take admission in the Multidisciplinary Course of B.A. /B.Sc. / B.Com / BBAif he/ she has passed in at least four (04) subjects with English as compulsory subject in the Higher Secondary [10+2] Examination held by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other Examination which is recognized by the University as equivalent thereto.

A candidate shall be allowed to pursue B.A. / B. Sc. / B. Com / BBA Multidisciplinary Course if he/ she has passed the qualifying Examination in Vocational Stream subjects. Such students shall have the option to study up to the end of 6th semester.

Choice of Major/Minor Courses for Single Major & Single Minor and three Discipline specific Multidisciplinary courses:

1. A student will be allowed to take up any subject except Computer Science/Microbiology and such other interdisciplinary subjects if he/she has passed in the said subject/related subject at the HS (10+2) examination or any other board recognized as equivalent by the University.

2.A candidate will be allowed to take up Sociology or BBA) if he/she has passed in the previous qualifying examination of any stream.

3. A candidate will be allowed to take up B.Com. if he/she has studied Science subjects along with Mathematics in the previous qualifying exams.

4. A candidate will be allowed to take up Physics Subject if he/she has passed in Mathematics and Chemistry along with Physics and other subject as prescribed at the qualifying examination.

5. A candidate will be allowed to take up Botany/Zoology Subject if he/she has passed in Biology at the qualifying examination.

7. A candidate will be allowed to take up Economics as if he/she has passed in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics or Business Economics including Business Mathematics, and other subjects as prescribed at the qualifying examination.

8. A candidate will be allowed to take up Geography subject if he/she has passed in Geography at the qualifying examination.

9. A candidate pursuing Major in a subject will not be allowed to take up the same subject as Minor.

10. While taking Major & Minor subjects, availability of the said subjects in the concerned Colleges will be taken into cognizance.

Merit calculation

For a Single Major and Single Minor course (4 year UG), where a student has studied the subject at +2 level = (Marks obtained in Major/ related subject + Marks obtained in English + Best marks obtained in other two subjects) / 4.

For a Single Major and Single Minor course (4 year UG), where a student has not studied the subject at +2 level = (Marks obtained in English + Best marks obtained in other three subjects) / 4.

For a three discipline specific Multidisciplinary course = (Marks obtained in English + Marks obtained in 3 Core / related subjects) /4.
